There’s no doubt that Konami’s Metal Gear Solid is one of the most beloved video game series of all time. Its five mainline entries, along with its several spin-offs and other related projects, have brought gamers a world that’s packed to the brim with action.
However, Konami isn’t done with the franchise yet! The developers recently held a surprise Metal Gear – Hotline Production episode, revealing details on the upcoming remake called Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater! From the first look, the game looks promising, but unfortunately, Konami still hasn’t fixed a fundamental flaw.
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater Still Fails to Deliver a Modernized Camo Menu

In the latest Metal Gear– Production Hotline, Konami touched upon various new details of its upcoming Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. The development team previewed the trailer from 2023’s Xbox Games Showcase while reiterating completely new features, such as updated battle damage and unique control styles.
However, one of the most striking aspects of the reveal was the camouflage menu and the overall updated UI. The total score of each camouflage option is listed with their descriptions, which now have a dedicated description box under Snake.
If you’ve ever played any of the original Metal Gear Solid games, you’ll instantly be familiar with this UI. Of course, it’s a slightly updated version, but it still carries the core problem of being clunky. When you’re engaged in action, switching between menus just to change your camo can prove to be quite a tedious process.
Many in the community were hoping that Konami would address this particular fundamental flaw of the original games in Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, but that’s not the case.
With the game lacking such basic quality-of-life features, some players are already suspicious of Konami and don’t want to fall into the trap of pre-ordering a game that could end up being a disappointment.
Since Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is a remake, it’s understandable that Konami is trying to recreate the original game and its functionality, which allowed it to be successful. However, the developers need to realize that a remake shouldn’t include the flaws of the original game. There’s still some time before Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater releases, so Konami could definitely bring quality-of-life improvements to the game.
When is Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater Releasing?

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater was announced way back in 2023. The game is supposed to be a faithful recreation of Snake Eater while incorporating modern gameplay concepts. Konami has referred to its gameplay as “evolved”, and it’s being developed in Unreal Engine 5.
Unfortunately, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater still doesn’t have a release date! While a video on PlayStation’s YouTube channel indicated that the remake would be released sometime in 2024, the game didn’t get featured at State of Play.
Dealabs’ Billbil-kun, who confirmed God of War Ragnarök’s PC announcement before anything official came out, referred to a “global distribution giant” listing Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater for 2025. The placeholder for the physical copies was apparently set for December 31st, 2025, which means the game’s launch has likely slipped to the next year.
