Although Kojima’s departure from Konami in 2015 marked a turning point for the Metal Gear Solid brand, fans remain as excited as ever for the upcoming game. The question on everyone’s mind is: When will this title be released? Well, some overlooked details from past years may hold key clues about the game’s release date.

As fans of the series know, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will be a remake of the 2004 classic, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. So, what is the launch date of this newer title that originally left its mark on November 17, 2004.

This could be seen as Konami’s strategy to revitalize the series by introducing a remake, following in the footsteps of successful franchises like Resident Evil and Silent Hill. The original game is set to celebrate its 20th anniversary on November 17, 2024, making it a fitting and meaningful launch date for the upcoming remake.

Unfortunately, despite our speculations, Konami has yet to make an official statement regarding the release date. For now, the information remains limited to the announcement made during last year’s PlayStation Showcase.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will be released on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S platforms. Despite the excitement among fans, any hopes for a collaboration between Kojima and Konami seem unlikely, given the somewhat tense nature of their parting ways.

What Kojima Did After Leaving Konami

Kojima separated Kojima Productions, which he founded within Konami in 2005, into an independent studio in 2015. We haven’t heard him talk much about the Metal Gear Solid series that has been integrated with him since then.

His first solo game was Death Stranding, which was released in 2019 and was launched as the first example of a new genre, ‘strand’. The production quickly became the centre of attention in its own way and introduced us to Sam Porter Bridges.

Although it received an 82 score on Metacritic, it exceeded 16 million players worldwide by the end of last year, hinting at a potential sequel. Death Stranding: Director’s Cut, released in 2021, set the bar a little higher for the series with a Metacritic score of 85.

It looks like fans won’t have to wait any longer for a new Kojima game. Because Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, from which we have previously received exciting things such as a gameplay trailer, will be released in 2025.
