This popular Japanese director has already clarified that, beyond some similar mechanics and combat, this new franchise will be completely different and aim for a different type of narrative.

In a recent interview, Hashino confirmed a specific feature that has some players quite disappointed. Players will reportedly have to decide which dungeons to explore and which to ignore due to the game’s constant location changes.

This will force players to play the game multiple times to complete it or discover all its secrets, exploring dungeons that were not previously explored.

The game’s director himself confirmed that Metaphor: ReFantazio will be a much more stylized title than any in the Persona franchise. When talking about exploring dungeons, he added,

In this game, you travel a lot, and when you get to your destinations, you have a choice of multiple dungeons you can do. And all these dungeons have different difficulty levels as well, so it’s kind of up to you on how you select to spend your time. In this way, there’s a lot more freedom.

Although the director appeals to freedom and lets the player choose their own path, completionists are not pleased about having to play the game multiple times to discover all the secrets of every dungeon.

Despite this, long-time followers of this director’s work are quite impatient and excited to try this new title full of fantasy and a kingdom on the brink of an unprecedented war.

Metaphor: ReFantazio will be released on October 11th for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series S/X, and PC. The last official game in this director’s most popular series was Persona 5: Royal, released in 2022. \

Critics and fans praised this title for adding many more details to the solid base game, making it one of the definitive titles of this popular Japanese franchise within the SEGA family.

I'm a big fan of movies and videogames in general. I really love Pokémon and Godzilla. One of my favorite games is The Last of Us, Part II. A compelling and well-written story is always welcome.
