Interestingly, the secret project’s revelation was only one of the disappointments that had fans complaining. Several readers stuck to the manga’s end to watch their beloved protagonist, Izuku Midoriya, become the ‘No.1 Hero’. However, Horikoshi had different plans for his audience as the final chapter concludes not Deku, but the entire Class 1-A as the ‘Greatest Heroes’.

Moreover, Deku lost all access to One for All and started to follow in the footsteps of All Might by becoming a teacher and nurturing future generations at UA. On top of that, despite Midoriya’s huge contribution in defeating Shigaraki, who was considered the strongest villain in the My Hero Academia universe, Deku wasn’t honored with a statue, something many fans believed he rightfully deserved.

Kōhei Horikoshi receives a special tribute from the One Piece creator

Furthermore, Horikoshi manages to excite his audience with the complexities of morality by introducing every villain’s characteristics. Indeed, the mangaka received tons of praise from the fandom for his years of hard work. Surprisingly, another popular manga creator, Eiichiro Oda, creator of One Piece, also paid a heartfelt tribute to My Hero Academia.

Eiichiro Oda portrayed a Smoker’s sketch in the recent One Piece manga chapter, which was a special tribute to Kōhei Horikoshi, but many fans missed the connection. Interestingly, Smoker’s design was inspired by an identical illustration made by Kōhei Horikoshi at the age of 15, before he started working on My Hero Academia. Indeed, this touching tribute from Oda left a lasting impression on many My Hero Academia fans.
