The long-awaited superhero movie starring Ezra Miller, which will be the first to feature Michael Keaton’s Batman since 1992’s Batman Returns, gets its best look yet in the teaser, debunking rumors that the legendary character had been left out of the finished movie.
In the movie, Keaton’s Caped Crusader, who is considerably older by the time he debuts in The Flash, encounters the DCEU’s Flash as he travels to an alternate universe where his mother is still alive.

At 71 years old when The Flash debuts, Michael Keaton will be the oldest actor to portray Batman in a live-action movie or TV show. The only performers who were older were Olan Soule, who was 74 when he voiced Batman for the final time in the seventh season of Super Friends (1973), and Adam West, who was 88 when he portrayed Batman for the final time in Batman vs. Two-Face (2017) (which was released after his death).
Kevin Conroy was 64 years old when he appeared on television as the Kingdom Come version of Batman in the Crisis on Infinite Earths storyline in the Arrowverse.
Before Keaton’s comeback, Ben Affleck, who debuted as the Dark Knight in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice in 2016, was the oldest actor to portray the character in a live-action movie. When The Flash is released, Affleck will be 50 years old, and it’s possible that this will be the last time he portrays Batman in a live-action movie.
DC usually goes for younger Batmans, making Michael Keaton a standout
DC has tended to portray Batman as younger-looking in the majority of its works. Keaton’s older Batman stands distinctive in the history of the character in the film because Val Kilmer, George Clooney, and Christian Bale all made their individual debuts as the Caped Crusader when they were all in their 30s. Keaton’s Batman comeback contrasts with Robert Pattinson’s ongoing The Batman series, in which Bruce Wayne is shown as being in his late 20s even though Pattinson was 34 at the time the movie was released. The Flash is made even more intriguing by Keaton’s reappearance as an elder Batman, opening up fresh narrative possibilities for the Caped Crusader.
The Flash is the most significant upcoming DC movie since it will introduce the franchise’s new continuity after James Gunn and Peter Safran took over DC Studios late last year.
