If there was an action franchise that has consistently held its place among other tough competitors in the genre, it is The Fast and The Furious. The series of films is now entering a towering 10th installment, with Fast X scheduled to release in the summer of 2023. Apart from entertaining audiences with speed, thrills, and unadulterated action, the films were also instrumental in making Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Michelle Rodriguez, and Jordana Brewster household names.

The Fast and the Furious also gained a lot of popularity with the introduction of many superstars who packed a punch as antagonists in various installments. Joining this heavyweight club in Fast X is Aquaman star Jason Momoa, who will play the villain in the film. With the Game of Thrones actor receiving high praise from his colleagues for his performance, the summer looks promising for Fast X.

“Jason Momoa Killed it”, says Michelle Rodriguez

Jason Momoa is the latest entrant into The Fast and The Furious franchise, and the actor is making an impact even before the film’s release. Momoa was recently lauded by co-actor and franchise veteran Michelle Rodriguez for his performance as the antagonist Dante Reyes in Fast X. The actor will play the son of Hernan Reyes, the corrupt politician, and drug lord killed in Fast Five. Rodriguez spoke about Momoa during an episode of Colliders Ladies Night and said,

“Revenge with a smirk. It sounds light, but when you see [the movie], you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about. I’d say he’s the best male villain we’ve had in the entire franchise”.

The star was quick to recognize Charlize Theron as the best female villain for her fantastic turn as Cipher in F9. Rodriguez’s comment also sparked excitement among the viewers about a possible collaboration between Theron and Momoa’s characters, which could be an iconic moment for the franchise. But there is no concrete information about their partnership in the film yet.

The Fast And The Furious Villains Over The Years

The Fast and The Furious franchise has historically brought together big-league stars to play antagonists in various installments. Some of the most prominent villain roles were played by Dwayne Johnson in Fast Five, Jason Statham in Fast and the Furious 6, Hollywood veteran Kurt Russel in Furious 7, and John Cena in F9. Cena went on to brand himself as the best villain of the entire franchise, but after Michelle Rodriguez’s praise for Jason Momoa, the Peacemaker star may have to eat his words. There was sufficient woman power as well that fuelled the films to greater heights with Oscar winner Helen Mirren and Charlize Theron also joining the team in F9.

Fast X is leaving no stone unturned when it comes to Hollywood royalty. Apart from Jason Momoa, the film will also showcase the talents of Captain Marvel star Brie Larson, Reacher actor Alan Ritchson and veteran Pueto-Rican actor Rita Moreno. With Theron, Mirren, and Statham due to reprise their roles along with franchise talisman Vin Diesel’s permanent presence, Fast X has all the makings of a perfect summer blockbuster.

Fast X releases worldwide on May 19th, 2023
