Baldur’s Gate titles have been popular for their rich lore and deep, captivating storylines combined with engaging gameplay. Although the games are not available on the Game Pass, there have been hints in the past that the titles could come to the service.

According to TrueAchievements, players who have subscribed to Game Pass have now received app push notifications on their mobile devices that Baldur’s Gate and Baldur’s Gate 2: Enhanced Editions are added to the service, inviting them to “rediscover” the classics. The notification reads,

Rediscover 2 RPG Classics – Customize your hero, recruit brave allies, and explore mystical realms in your search for adventure, profit…and the truth. Play Baldur’s Gate 1 and 2 with Game Pass.

However, when players click on the push notification, it takes them to the store page, where it is revealed that the game is currently unavailable with Game Pass but can be purchased on the store. This notification is seemingly a mistake on the company’s part but is also a hint that both might be coming to the service sometime in the future, but it is pure speculation as of now.

Players have been disappointed knowing that the games are not available on the service, as they were excited upon seeing the notification. Moreover, this is the second time players have received such an app notification. Players received the app push notification back in August 2023, but the games were never added, so it is possible that they might not come to the service anytime soon.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Is Also Not Coming to Game Pass

Baldur's Gate 3 will also not be coming to the subscription service.

The latest title in the series, Baldur’s Gate 3, has been a massive success and won multiple awards at The Game Awards 2023, including the prestigious Game of the Year. The game was recently released for Xbox consoles after several delays. The main issue behind the delay was optimization issues on the Xbox Series S consoles, and Larian had to remove the split-screen feature entirely.

There have also been discussions about whether the game would be available to Game Pass subscribers, but Larian Studios CEO Swen Vincke denied any such notions and said that the game would not be coming to the service anytime soon. Vincke stated that it was never planned to be on Game Pass, and Microsoft also never seemed interested in bringing the game to the service.

Vincke added that Larian has made a big game, and players would need to pay for it if they wanted to play the game. He also mentioned that there are no micro-transactions in the game, so it’s just the game that players are paying for, and the payments are what allow Larian to develop the games.

Baldur’s Gate 3 has also seen a few issues on Xbox consoles, including a bug due to which players lost several hours of progress. The company issued a patch and also shared a workaround for players to fix the bug. The developer also shared that players can create a Larian account, which will allow for cross-saving to save progress and will keep trying to make things easier for players.
