Miley Cyrus has had an incredible musical journey, from being a teen pop star to a much controversial bare-it-all (literally) music artist during her early adulthood. Just early this year in January, she released what was supposed to be her breakup song after the end of her relationship with ex-Liam Hemsworth, Flowers. The song was an immediate chart-topper, breaking records even without any press.
And apparently, the Hannah Montana star already knew that the song would be a hit, having had enough experience in her long musical career. While speaking to Vogue UK, she stated,
“I’ve been doing this for a while.”
Soon she went partying on the night of the release but never drank while celebrating what she already knew was a superhit. However, she wasn’t fazed by the success, maintaining that everything is ‘seasonal’, a never-ending circle of highs and lows.
Miley Cyrus Wasn’t Too Fazed By The Success of Flower
Flowers is a self-empowering song, having self-triumph over everything and everyone else. Having more than 600 million views on YouTube, it is one of her most successful songs ever. While most artists would be overwhelmed by their chart-toppers, Miley Cyrus knew she was at the top just for a fleeting moment and was okay not to be at the top, always (via Vogue UK).
“I was like, ‘No. I might be No1 now, but No2 is on its way.’ Everything is seasonal. A lot of headlines have said, ‘This is Miley’s moment.’ And I’m like, ‘That’s exactly what it is. It’s a moment. And it will be over.”
When she states the obvious, she isn’t being pessimistic but rather honest.
“That’s not pessimistic. That’s honest and that’s OK with me. I actually prefer it. I don’t like to stay big. Someone could say, ‘It would be this number if you did that, or this number if you sell your soul… I’ve been in the Garden of Eden before and I’ve taken the red apple, and it never feels good.”
Her perspective perfectly highlights her fearless and authentic nature, proving she would rather have a genuine journey than compromise her true self for everlasting fame.
