Ever since Netflix released Lillyhammer back in 2012, the streaming company has evolved into a juggernaut when it comes to web content. Every year, the streaming behemoth produces more and more original series and films, some of which become break-out hits. Be it House of Cards, Stranger Things, or Umbrella Academy, the studio has produced some of the greatest shows in modern television history.
Stranger Things in particular has been a major IP for Netflix ever since it premiered back in 2016. The show is marching towards its final season, and a contender for it’s throne has already reared its head. Fans and critics alike are ready to see which series topples Stranger Things to become Netflix’s premiere IP, and it seems like EW has already found it.
The Haunting of Hill House is here for Stranger Things’ crown
Earlier this year, Entertainment Weekly released its ranking of shows that it thinks are the most popular on Netflix, putting The Haunting of Hill House in the Number 1 position. Fans seem to agree with what the article had to say, as they have taken to social media to express their love for the show, while inadvertently showing Netflix what a juggernaut of an IP the series has the potential to become.
Incredible show. I can’t compliment Mike enough.
Acting=incredible.
Cinematography =incredible
Writing=incredibleTo make a good show/movie, you gotta have characters that are relatable and you can care about. He nails it. I became the biggest Victoria Pedretti fan because…

Mike Flanagan’s run of shows for Netflix will go down in history as one of the all time greatest runs in the history of the genre. They’ve been keeping Netflix afloat as a respected home for original horror and I’m curious to see what they do without him. Irreplaceable talent. https://t.co/nbHYEsnI23

Stranger Things is on its way to singing its swan song, The Millie Bobby Brown starter has found itself a lot of love from the audience as well. With its hotly anticipated final season, it is completely possible that if a similar list were to come out next year, it would look completely different, and given the hype around the property, it could have Stranger Things back on top. However, given how much the streaming giant has produced since April, the competition might be tough.

Here is what the competition looks like on Netflix
Ever since the article was released, Netflix has developed its library of original series even further. This year’s One Piece was quite the hit for the streaming giant, which made a space with the anime and mainstream community alike. Netflix is also set to release Avatar: The Last Airbender in the coming year, the fandom of which is waiting eagerly to see the animated series’ second outing as a live-action property.
Apart from an adaptation of established properties, Netflix also has a series of romantic comedies and dramas coming out in the coming year. 3 Body Problem is another series that might have what it takes sot topple The Haunting of Hill House as the new fan favorite. And these are just the live-action English language series that the show might have to defend its crown from. Several animated and foreign language materials could steal the number one spot from The Haunting on Hill House.
