Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Will Keep Bringing New Exclusive Content, but Not for Long

Modern Warfare 3 has a lot of operators who come from different walks of life.

This exclusive bundle clearly shows us the creative vision for the studio as far as live-service content is concerned. From the trailer, we get a glimpse of Elodie Micheaux (Lockpick), an experienced art thief with a knack for breaking into places and picking any kind of lock that crosses her path. The flair and charisma alone are engaging enough to keep players looking forward to more such characters in the near future.

And, from what Modern Warfare and Warzone players have experienced in the past, it won’t be surprising to see in-game events that promote characters and new points of interest.

However, this isn’t a guarantee that Activision will keep supporting regular and innovative updates exclusively for PlayStation. Sources suggest that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is the final game in Sony’s deal with Activision, paving the way for content that’s open to more players across different platforms. This may have little to do with an upcoming merger between Microsoft and Activision Blizzard.

According to this deal, Call of Duty (along with other Activision Blizzard games) will eventually make its way to Xbox Game Pass, but not immediately. There’s still a decade to go until PlayStation stops receiving new Call of Duty games and updates.

Call of Duty fans have a lot to look forward to, according to Activision president Rob Kostich. Based on the studio’s vision, the upcoming games will try to balance futurism and realism. Much like Infinite Warfare, except upcoming games will find themselves in the ‘near-future.’

What Can Players Expect From Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3?

Modern Warfare 3 brings new gameplay changes to familiar settings.

Modern Warfare 3 places itself on familiar battlegrounds. The game will feature a campaign that continues right after Modern Warfare 2, focusing on Vladimir Makarov, the antagonist from the classic Modern Warfare franchise.

Based on Activision’s description of the game, there will be:

…operations ranging from signature, cinematic experiences to free-form Open Combat Missions.

Similar to some free-for-all types of modes we’ve seen in previous games, Open Combat Missions will inspire ultimate player freedom by giving them more choices to complete missions the way they want to. Think of games like Hitman, where you can either sneak and be stealthy or be trigger-happy and blast your way across the map.

Additionally, the multiplayer modes will feature 16 maps from the classic Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. These maps are remastered for the new game’s arrival. Players can expect newer features and modes within these updated maps.

The biggest reveal of all has been the inclusion of 30 weapons, which come with their own mastery camos that can be unlocked through gameplay. This Gunsmith upgrade brings in new customization with attachments and tuning weapons based on the player’s preferred playstyle. For improved customization, aftermarket parts can be unlocked later in the game.

That’s not all; Warzone is getting a big map update too. The new zone is called Urzikstan, which features eleven points of interest. The landscape seems a little modern, pertaining to urban-esque sites. The map will be featured in both Plunder and Battle Royale modes.
