Why The Upcoming Monogatari Series Is A Big Deal

As discussed before, the Monogatari series remains one of the most famous and widely recognized anime in the industry. This is partly because the light novel series on which the anime is based started way back in 2006 with the release of Bakemonogatari Volume 1. Followed by the official release of the first anime adaptation of the said series in 2009.

Following the long-running light novels and the occasional release of animated adaptations, the franchise has managed to muster up a large fan base for the series. This fan base always looks forward to every fresh instalment the Monogatari might be getting, making the announcement of the two new upcoming seasons a big deal.

The Monogatari animated adaptation has released hundreds of episodes ever since its first release and has managed to gather a lot of iconic moments and dialogues. These scenes have become so iconic and memorable due to the comedic element they contain, a theme which can be observed throughout the whole of the Monogatari series.

Who Will Be Producing The Upcoming Monogatari Seasons

Since the beginning, it has been Studio Shaft that has been making animated adaptations of the Monogatari franchise. There have been several directors of the series over the years, however, the upcoming seasons will be directed by Midori Yoshijawa, known for her other works such as March Comes in Like a Lion and The Quintessential Quintuplets.

The Off Season and The Monster Season will be the fourth and fifth seasons in the franchise respectively, and are most likely to follow the events of where the anime left off with the last season released back in 2019. It is also important to remember that seasons of Monogatari are also further divided into mini-story arcs, so fans might get to see multiple releases within one season.
