Announced on Disney’s D23 event in 2019, the animated series based on the same name in the comics follows the adventures of 13-year old genius prodigy Lunella Lafayette aka Moon Girl and her 10-ton T-Rex, Devil Dinosaur. After Lunella accidentally brings Devil Dinosaur into present-day New York City via a time vortex, the duo works together to protect the city’s Lower East Side from danger. Right below you can see the official concept art for the show and I got to say this looks really cute!

Yesterday via Disney D23, the mouse house revealed its talented voice cast for the upcoming series. Phineas and Ferb’s Diamond White will voice Moon Girl, Fred Tatasciore plays Devil Dinosaur, Sasheer Zamata will be Lunella’s mother, Adria Lafayette, Jermaine Fowler is Lunella’s father, James Lafayette Jr., Ducktales’ Libe Barer is Lunella’s best friend/”manager”, Casey, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle’s Gary Anthony Williams voices Lunella’s grandfather, James “Pops” Lafayette Sr., Luke Cage’s Alfre Woodard is Lunella’s grandmother, Mimi Lafayette, and Black-ish star Laurence Fishburne will voice The Beyonder! Fishburne also serves as the show’s executive producer.

Comic Book History

While still a relatively new character in the Marvel universe, Lunella has left an impact as one of the smartest minds that rivals the likes of Reed Richards and Amadeus Cho for example. Moon Girl was created by Brandon Montclare and Amy Reeder. Debuting in Marvel Comics on November 25th, 2015, Lunella is an Inhuman with the ability to swap minds with Devil Dinosaur whether if she’s angry or extremely hungry. Besides that, she’s made a bunch of gadgets to help her with whatever the situation calls for. Devil Dinosaur, on the other hand, was a creation made by the king of comics himself, Jack Kirby. First appearing in the pages of Marvel in April of 1978, Devil Dinosaur is a giant, red T-Rex that hails from a parallel universe where dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures co-exist. Devil’s original partner was an ape-like humanoid creature named Moon Boy.

Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur is set to air on Disney Channel sometime in 2022. With any luck, this could possibly lead the way for a live-action appearance in the MCU or more Disney TV animated collaborations with Marvel.
