The Mortal Kombat 1 beta access will start on August 18 and end on August 21. This appears to be the release frame for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, however, there is no mention of a time for PC users. The date is also of special significance to Ed Boon since it is:

“My mother’s birthday. Tobias’s mother’s birthday. 1995 MK Movie release date.”

It appears everything is coming into place and gamers are excited to get their hands on the Mortal Kombat 1 beta.

Mortal Kombat 1 recently unveiled the first Kombat Pack, which will include the six DLC characters, Omni-Man, Homelander, Quan Chi, Ermac, Takeda, and Peacemaker. However, those expecting to see these characters show up in the Mortal Kombat 1 beta are set to be sorely disappointed. In addition to the August 18-21 post, the Mortal Kombat Twitter account also included what will be involved when it comes to fighters, kameos, and stages. Liu, Kang, Sub-Zero, Kenshi, Kitana, Johnny Cage, and Li Mei will be the fighters. The Kameos will include Kano, Sonya, Jax, and Frost. And the stages will be The Teahouse and Johnny Cage’s Mansion.

The Mortal Kombat 1 beta is going to be only a small portion of what is to come for the full title. There are several other characters who will not be shown prior to the official release. If you are one of the gamers excited about the next Mortal Kombat 1 beta and potentially purchasing the game, you should consider pre-ordering to acquire Shang Tsing as an additional fighter.

If it is not an official Mortal Kombat 1 post or trailer, it is likely a reliable leak that will eventually become a major announcement. Outside of the Mortal Kombat 1 beta world, there has also been rumors six more DLC characters are coming to Kombat Pack 2. These fighters include: Noob Saibot, Harley Quinn, Deathstroke, Kano, Sareena, and Doomslayer.

If this is true, it will provide for another exciting set of characters to make a crossover appearance in the Mortal Kombat universe. It would not be surprising to see Harley Quinn and Deathstroke show up in Mortal Kombat 1, given the fact NetherRealm Studios has used them in the past for Injustice and appears to have a strong relationship with DC.

Mortal Kombat 1 is set to be a complete continuity overhaul and reboot of the franchise. Since fans have been excited to see how new character biographies play out in this upcoming game, the Mortal Kombat 1 beta will hopefully provide more insight into the upcoming story. Earlier this week, it was also revealed that the title will be similar in length to Mortal Kombat X and Mortal Kombat 11. This means the base game is expected to be roughly about 5 to 6 hours in story length. Since the overall narrative will be fairly short, gamers should not expect too much out of the Mortal Kombat 1 beta. But it is still possible players will see hints of what is to come.

Are you excited for the Mortal Kombat 1 beta and will you be pre-ordering the title to try it out? Leave a comment and let us know what you think of this exciting information from Ed Boone.
