In the newest Mortal Kombat 1 trailer called ‘Official Keepers of Time’, fans are getting a better idea of the story and what’s to come in the newest MK installment. Featuring OG Mortal Kombat character Liu Kang and newcomer Geras, they share a conversation together with bits of gameplay in between. With Kang being Earthrealm’s protector, the game’s story is shaping up to explain the “1” in the title. The gameplay sprinkled in the trailer shows more brutal combos and fatalities. The best fatality of the trailer with many fans in agreement is the black hole fatality from Liu Kang. It is wild.

With every installment of the Mortal Kombat franchise, the fatalities always one up the previous game. From the 16-bit era of Mortal Kombat (1992) to Mortal Kombat 11’s gruesome realistic blood/gore, it’s crazy to see NetherRealm Studios step up the fatalities once again for this latest entry in the franchise. While the ‘Official Keepers of Time Trailer’ highlights the story clash between Liu Kang and Geras, NetherRealm knew to include some exciting gameplay bits for the fans to react to. The standout highlight by far is Liu Kang’s black hole fatality.

Liu Kang’s Black Hole Fatality in Mortal Kombat 1

As Kang holds his opponent by the neck, in this case, it’s Sub-Zero, he snaps a black hole into existence. In the middle of outer space, the black hole slowly disintegrates Sub-Zero from toe to head, peeling his skin and flesh away. A fatality on this scale demonstrates Mortal Kombat 1 is not holding back on its fatalities.

Fans are very much pleased with the black hole fatality. The top comment with more than 9,700 likes for the trailer on YouTube said:
