Mortal Kombat 1, which was released in September of last year, has mostly been silent when it comes to fresh content. However, it seems developers are putting the pedal to the metal as Year 2 DLC has been finally revealed.

Surprisingly, NetherRealm Studios also has a sweet gift waiting for players with 2 FREE Scorpion MK95 palettes. It’s worth pointing out that there will be no in-game notification regarding the Mortal Kombat skins upon logging into the game. However, they should be in the inventory regardless, so don’t panic.

Naturally, the news of free skin has caught many players’ eyes. As mentioned before, the MK95 version, in particular, has always been popular, so it is only logical that players are excited to grab the free reward.

Some fans are even shocked that NetherRealm Studios hasn’t put the skin behind a paywall.

It goes without saying that this is a perfect time to return to the game. With new content on the horizon and free skins being handed out, the game has never been in a better state. Furthermore, the player count, which has been pretty low for a while, should go up, improving the ranked experience.

Nothing can beat the old-school style of Mortal Kombat, and developers bringing back Animalities in Mortal Kombat 1 might be the move that catapults the game back to popularity. For anyone unfamiliar, Animalities allows the character to turn into an animal and finish off the target.

It’s brutal, it’s chaotic, and given the fantastic visuals, it’s sure to appease the Mortal Kombat fans. We did get to see a few Animalities during the teaser shown at San Diego Comic-Con 2024, such as Rain turning into a Pufferfish and exploding inside the foe for a brutal kill.

The Mortal Kombat DLC is aiming to rejuvenate the game with plenty to look forward to. Apart from Animalities, six new characters will be added to the game, along with an expansion of the main storyline.
