In his earlier versions, Kabal was a member of the Black Dragon clan alongside Kano. Traditionally, Kabal has sided with the villains, but the recent changes in origins and their treatment could potentially recast the character’s image.
At least when it comes to the Black Dragons, many fans want to respect the character’s origin; some even desire a variation where he could ally with the good guys.
This new Mortal Kombat 1 appears to serve as the foundation for a new trilogy and universe, showcasing the other characters in the franchise in a fresh and unique manner. The studio has not announced the next franchise installment.
