The fatality that has drawn the most attention is one that has been ripped straight off the silver screen from the end of Kill-Bill 2. The move known as the “Five Point Palm Exploding Heart technique” involves hitting several pressure points on the body before striking one final fatal blow.

This fatality can be performed by Kameo fighter Shujinko and is a direct recreation of the iconic move used by the character of the Bride on her ex-boss Bill. An additional nod to the movie is specifically having Shujinko performing the fatality as he bears a striking resemblance to Kung Fu master Pai Mei who teaches the Bride the killer move.

What Other Pop Culture References Have Appeared in Mortal Kombat?

2015’s Mortal Kombat X featured Horror icons such as the Xenomorph and Leatherface.

As mentioned before Mortal Kombat is a franchise that is no stranger to references, Easter eggs and homages to pop culture icons. 2015’s MKX featured horror icons such as Leatherface from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise and the hockey mask-clad Jason Voorhees from the Friday the 13th series.

It should come as no surprise then that Mortal Kombat 1 already has a ridiculous roster of DLC fighters that will be available post-launch featuring Invincibles Omni-Man, DC’s Peacemaker and Ermac. With the inclusion of this fatality, players are calling for The Bride to be added to the game as soon as possible too.
