The Boys has been a unique entry in the superhero genre with its deconstruction of the genre itself and the social commentary on real-world events. The show has distinguished itself from the more predominant entries like Marvel and DC who are more family-friendly and conventional. With The Boys, the satire and political commentary overpower the conventional superhero tropes.

Since the beginning of the show, fans have been wondering about the possibility of a crossover between the show and the MCU, and how the characters would have fared in that world. A fan-made crossover video has recently gone viral and it perfectly captures how the MCU heroes would have been the target of criticism of Billy Butcher.

Since season 1 of The Boys, Karl Urban‘s Billy Butcher has been very critical of Vought and how it manipulates the general public to have an ideal perception of the supes of the Seven. Throughout the show, he and the team have tried to dismantle Vought and prevent Homelander from having total control.

In addition to that, the satirical social/political commentary has been a huge part of why the show feels different from the conventional template of something like the MCU. A new crossover fan-made Instagram video (taken from season 1 where Butcher talks to Hughie about the corporate nature of Vought) nicely blends scenes from the MCU with the dialogue spoken by Butcher.

Butcher and Hughie enter the MCU through a Doctor Strange portal and the team leader elaborates on the “movie tickets, merchandising, theme parks, video games” that Marvel has put out, leading it to be the multibillion billion dollar company we know today. Butcher also points out how the company has always tried to show superheroes as ideal beings (Vought is clearly a rip-off of big companies and studios in The Boys).

Fans were blown away by the crisp editing in the video with rifqyftr commenting “I’ll pay with my soul to watch this collabs”. Another fan bederfitness.2 wrote “This is the revive marvel needs” indicating how this exciting crossover would be the jolt that Marvel needs. The video will certainly make fans ecstatic and dream of a true crossover.

The Boys season 4 finale teased a very bleak and totalitarian rule under Homelander where anti-supe supporters will be captured/killed. Cate and Sam from Gen V were pivotal in carrying out Homelander’s new strategy and thus, the second season of the show will certainly continue to show how the world has changed.

The series’ creator, Eric Kripke, revealed that Gen V season 2 will be a first glimpse into the new world created at the end of season 4. Kripke also stated that certain new developments in the new season will trickle into the final season of The Boys. He said (via Screenrant),

In terms of the whole VCU universe, Gen V will be the first glimpse into the new world that was created at the end of season 4. And so, they’re actually gonna get there even before we will. So, you’ll really get a first sense of what it’s like. And then, that will continue into season 5.

Gen V season 2 is currently in production and is expected to release sometime next year. It will be exciting to see how this new rule affects the world of The Boys and its characters.
