Shinji Mikami talked about Hideo Kojima in the new Connecting Worlds documentary
In the last few years, after all the P.T. debacle, Hideo Kojima left Konami on no good terms. After that, Sony and various other investors supported the game designer, and he could open a new studio called Hideo Kojima. In the new documentary, Connecting Worlds, that is already available on Disney+, through interviews with people who know Kojima or have worked with him, they talk about his process and what his inspirations are. Shinji Mikami, the creator of Resident Evil, has also participated in the documentary.
Among the names that are part of the documentary are Geoff Keighley, George Miller, Guillermo del Toro, and many more. Shinji Mikami, in particular, talked about the passion and obsession that Kojima has with films in general.
Kojima is very public about his love for movies, and he also talked about how different movies have inspired him for his games. In Metal Gear, you can really see the movie influence in the games. In the Death Stranding games and other projects, the influence can be noted as well.

Kojima has various active projects, like the sequel to Death Stranding for 2025, the Xbox exclusive called OD, and a new espionage game with Sony. Physint is the name of this project with Sony and Columbia Pictures. In the latest state of play, he reveals that he was at Columbia Studios making the motion capture for the game. Kojima is working like never before, with the liberty that no other game designer in the industry has.
