And with the season now coming to an end, the show has seen a level of success that wasn’t expected from it, especially because the iconic duo of Brangelina isn’t the face of the project anymore. Thus, if these positive reviews and reception keep on coming, then the showrunners reveal that a second season could be possible in the future.

Most remakes today are a hit or miss when the fans finally lay eyes on them, so the recreation of Mr. & Mrs. Smith was thought would be the latter of the two since a big part of what made the original film such a classic was the chemistry of Branjelina on the screen. But with Donald Glover teaming up with Maya Erskine for the role of the titular duo, the audience was naturally surprised that they managed to not only pull their chemistry off but even excel expectations.

Naturally, the exceptional performances were witnessed by the viewers, who were singing nothing but praises for the show, making it a worthwhile watch for anyone. And now, with the success of the first season, fans are asking whether the showrunners have a plan to continue this series for future seasons.

Thankfully, showrunner and co-creator Francesca Sloane has good news. Talking with The Direct in a recent interview, she revealed that there is a lot more they have in store for the public, and if the demand is high enough, they would happily make season two of the show. She said:

“I think that we always wrote Season 1 as a complete film. We’re very happy with the way that we wrapped it up and with the ending, even with the ending being what it is. With that said, yeah, we have some really cool, big ideas for a Season 2. So, should the opportunity present itself, we will definitely go down that road. And we will make it even cooler than Season 1 if people will give us a chance.”

Considering the positive reception the show is still continuing to receive with new viewers being exposed to the show, a second season seems highly likely in the near future.

What Is Different About Prime Video’s Mr. & Mrs. Smith?

While the original film wasn’t bad by any means, it lacked some things that could’ve made it even better than it was received by the audience, something that Prime Video’s Mr. & Mrs. Smith nailed.

One of the major things that the show does well is show the married life of John and Jane Smith with a lot more nuance and complexities that were somewhat lacking in the film. Plus, additions to the original story with new characters and situations, but being able to maintain the same high-octane action that the movie boasted of, the show does wonders for itself in a very natural way.
