Critics and audiences seem to agree on one thing, that Vellani’s Ms. Marvel is the best thing and the main highlight of the film.
Vellani seems overjoyed hearing and reading all the love and appreciation that she’s getting for the film. She reciprocated their love by making a surprise appearance at the El Capitan theater screening of the film. A clip of this was put up by Discussing Film on X where Vellani excitedly says,
“Hi, Marvel fans, I’m Iman Vellani and I am about to surprise a bunch of people at the El Capitan screening for The Marvels. Very excited, gonna see a full crowd. Yeah, let’s go.”

Vellani is clearly seen being overwhelmed by the love and appreciation from audiences when she enters the stage at the screening. Iman Vellani Praises the Empowering and Evolving Nature of Marvel Heroes
Iman Vellani starred in her own show Ms. Marvel before jumping onto The Marvels. In the show, the character got to explore her identity as a Pakistani-American girl, and what it meant for a character like that to be given powers and responsibilities. Such an evolving and relatable nature of the MCU was what drew Vellani’s attention to the franchise.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Vellani talked about how Marvel has evolved in showing female characters who are flawed and yet strong in their own way. She also praised the MCU for telling empowering narratives with different characters that make people from different parts of the world feel represented and given prominence. She said,
“We’re really lucky because we have such a plethora of female characters with real flaws and real arcs. Time and time again, it’s proven that not only do these stories have such a robust fan base, but they sell.
Marvel has always championed that idea of finding this idealized version of yourself through their characters â a version of yourself that can fly in space or stop a train with one hand. I think that aspiration to be greater than who you are is such a universal feeling, regardless of gender identity. I hope people recognize that and find ways to identify with all of our characters.”
