Janet Jackson, the tenth and youngest child of the Jackson family, is well-known for her contributions to the music industry with her ingenious and socially cognizant records. Not to mention her great stage shows. Although she started in the entertainment industry as a part of the Jackson family, she established a name of her own in the industry with her powerful music.
Janet Jackson is undoubtedly one of the greatest singers of her generation, and her work has influenced many young artists over the years. However, her career has had as many ups and downs as one can think of. In the second part of her documentary, Janet, she has spoken candidly about some things that deeply impacted her personal and professional growth. One of these things are the allegations against her late brother, the legendary musician Michael Jackson.
Janet Jackson Does Not Believe in the Allegations Against Her Late Brother Michael Jackson
Even after years of his unfortunate demise, Michael Jackson continues to be regarded as one of the greatest musicians of all time, and rightly so. His contributions to dance, music, and fashion established him as a global icon.
Despite this, the daunting allegations against him not only affected his career and personal life but also his family and those who supported him. Being his sister, the All for You singer could not escape the wrath of those allegations.
When the Dirty Diana singer was accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a 13-year-old boy, Janet Jackson lost a lucrative Coca-Cola endorsement. In the first hour of the second part of her documentary, released in January 2022 (via CNN), she said:
“My brother would never do something like that, but I’m still guilty by association. That’s what they call it, right? He didn’t have that in him.”
The Jackson family defended Michael Jackson against the allegations. The Rhythm Nation singer claimed that her brother tried to settle the case with the boy’s family by paying them a hefty sum because he wanted to get rid of the allegations, but this backfired and made him look guilty.
Janet Jackson on the 2004 Superbowl Halftime Incident
In the second hour of the second part of her documentary, Janet Jackson spoke about the incident that happened during her Superbowl Halftime performance in 2004 with Justin Timberlake. The Mirrors singer accidentally ripped a part of her top at the end of the performance.
The Together Again singer said that Justin Timberlake had asked her if he should issue a statement, but she told him to stay quiet about the matter. The incident caused massive fans backlash, but that was not the end of it because she was disinvited at the Grammy Awards. Jackson said:
“Honestly, this whole thing was blown way out of proportion. Of course, it was an accident. That should not have happened, but everyone is looking for someone to blame, and that’s got to stop.”
Janet Jackson’s boyfriend at the time Jermaine Dupri resigned from his duties on the Grammys board because he believed that they had disrespected her.
