Mike Tyson Had To Practice Punching For The Camera

Mike Tyson did not require any acting or singing advice from Todd Philips when he joined the cast of The Hangover. Unexpectedly, Phillips had to help the well-known boxer with his punch.

Phillips claimed that there was a significant distinction between punching someone in a real fight and doing so on a movie set. The former professional boxer kept doing it incorrectly for the camera, according to Phillips, who spoke with James Cordon in an interview for The Late Late Show With James Corden.

Well, in actuality, Phillips showed Tyson how to perform the move correctly so that it would look good on camera.

According to Phillips, Tyson’s reaction to this was priceless as he appreciated him as:

“He [Mike Tyson] is really funny guy and is really down for anything. … Without missing a beat he goes, ‘Oh this is great. I’m getting boxing lessons from the captain of the Jewish debating team.’”

Tyson’s comic timing helped him get a role in the 2011 sequel, The Hangover Part II. The success of the film was enhanced by his portrayal of a fictionalized version of himself.

A Championship Belt That Mike Tyson Gave To Bradley Cooper

Bradley Cooper spent the majority of his time on The Late Late Show With James Corden talking about The Hangover with host (James Corden) and director, Todd Phillips.

Cooper and Phillips had a ton of stories to tell Corden about their 2009 comedy film, and the host did not try to hide how much he admired the popular movie. This was especially true when he brought up Mike Tyson’s brilliant cameo in the film.

The Wedding Crashers actor recalled how he and Tyson’s family had become close friends. He acknowledged that they had “lost touch over the last couple of years,” mentioning only going to the 2008 film, as an exception.

Additionally, after seeing his Broadway performance of The Elephant Man, Cooper talked about the awesome-but-fake gift he received from Tyson and his family:

“They gave me one of his belts. One of his boxing belts… I didn’t know what to do because it had the medallions and everything, but I also noticed it actually wasn’t a real belt. I think it was a ‘Mike Tyson belt,’ but not actually one of the championship belts.”

 He then said while laughing:

“But my heart stopped. Then I said, I can’t accept this.”
