The Academy Awards have been the premier event in the Hollywood industry for almost a decade now, and there has been a long and illustrious history behind it as well. But along with special memories being created on the night of the Oscars, there have been many instances when the road of the celebration was filled with bumps of controversies.
The most recent controversy stemmed from the night of the 94th Academy Awards when star Will Smith slapped Chris Rock on stage. But this wouldn’t be as big of a deal when compared to what Angelina Jolie did when she received her Oscar back in 2000 when she took her love for her brother a little too far.
The Night When Angelina Jolie Kissed Her Brother
Known throughout the Hollywood industry and in the eyes of the general public as one of the most stunning female talents, Angelina Jolie has been in the headline for numerous reports in the past. For doing something exceptionally well and/or different within the business and/or in her personal life, Jolie has had her name everywhere. But she was amidst a lot of controversy and backlash when she decided to openly kiss her brother on the night she received an Oscar Award.

In the year 2000, on the night of the 72nd Academy Awards, an overjoyed Jolie was seen receiving the award for Best Supporting Actor Female for her performance in Girl, Interrupted, where she openly said that she was feeling a lot of love for her brother James Haven. At that moment, everyone thought that she was talking about their bond as siblings until they saw the two of them sharing a kiss on the lips with each other, which turned into one of the biggest controversies of the year.
The Lara Croft star later clarified that they were doing so out of sibling love and that it was a gesture that their parents had no problem with. She told Entertainment Weekly:
“My parents really loved that moment, and that’s what will always matter.”
Along with her, Haven too clarified that the actual kiss was a short one and that the pictures that were taken made it look like they were sharing a passionate french kiss.

What’s Next For Angelina Jolie?
While it may look like the Maleficent star may be keeping it on a low when it comes to taking on projects, it’s quite the contrary assumption. Despite the lackluster performance of Eternals, the stars will return to the MCU as it’s all connected to the final showdown, which means we will get to witness Jolie as Thena once more. Apart from the MCU, the star has many other projects lined up that include Unreasonable Behaviour and The Kept, all of which are in the production stages.
