Supernatural follows the story of two brothers Sam and Dean Winchester, who run their family business and fight supernatural beings like demons, ghosts, and monsters. The love between the Winchester brothers was one of the best elements showcased in the show. It premiered in September 2005 and lasted for fifteen seasons, concluding in November 2020.

Eric Kripke’s fascination with urban legends (via The Age) had him working on the story for almost a decade before a network finally picked it up (via USA Today). Although Kripke had initially thought of making a movie (via Toledo Free Press), he made it into a TV series and spent more time pitching it before the WB picked it up.

Fans are still enthusiastic about watching more of the Winchester brothers. Now and then, rumors of the series’ revival with Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles returning to their roles as Sam and Dean Winchester. Ackles’ attempt at the spin-off series The Winchesters, which was dropped by the CW after a single season, only made fans more eager than ever for a new season.

In a recent interview with Collider, Padalecki claimed he would love to play Sam Winchester again, saying:

“It’s not that I haven’t seriously considered doing it, my single answer is yes. It’s timing. It’s availability.”

Having the Winchester brothers back on the screen on a new adventure is something fans are very eager to witness. The Friday the 13th actor’s words are a shining beacon of hope for fans. However, he has made it clear that he will not do it just for the sake of doing it.

There have been many instances when a show is picked up for a second season or rebooted for the sole purpose of making more content. However, that will not be the case for Supernatural as Jared Padalecki does not intend to return to the series for that purpose.

In the interview with Collider, Padalecki explained his condition for returning, saying:

“If and when Supernatural comes back, it’s going to be a labor of love, and we’re gonna put every hour in to make sure that it’s as true to the canon and to the fandom and to the story and to the characters as possible.”

That being said, he has also insisted that he does not mind the form in which the new Supernatural series will be released as long as the story is worth telling.

Supernatural is available for streaming on Netflix.
