Clips and even memes always pop up whenever a new artist shows up on the show, but until now, only Elizabeth Olsen had made it through without flinching from all the spice. Recently, though, Ariana Grande managed to keep up with her.

Interviewing celebrities is pretty standard, but interviewing them while eating spicy chicken wings is a whole different game. To this day, you can count on one hand the number of people who’ve gotten through it without tears in their eyes.

Presented by the First We Feast channel, Hot Ones is one of today’s biggest hits. When Elizabeth Olsen appeared on the show, she handled the wings and sauces like a champ, showing serious endurance. Her interview quickly went viral, putting her at the top of the “competition” among artists who’ve managed to withstand all those different kinds of pepper.

It just so happens that Ariana Grande has recently stepped into Olsen’s shoes, or at least stood shoulder to shoulder with the actress. The singer handled the heat well but stayed honest when she said she felt fine, though her body was definitely feeling odd:

I’m fine with the spice so far, but my body is like “What’s this?”.

It’s weird because my tongue is aware, and my brain feels like it’s being invited to fight or flight, like, to hover above and watch us do this right now, because it’s not here anymore. But I’m fine.

Despite her overall calm demeanor, Grande’s most noticeable negative reaction came when she took a sip of milk. Since milk is a well-known remedy for easing the burn of peppers, it’s quite interesting. According to her, drinking it was the worst part.

Even with the peppers she didn’t like, the artist didn’t show any major reaction. By the end of the show, she was surprised she hadn’t reacted like other guests and joked that it shouldn’t have been so easy.

In the interview, Grande also shared a bit more about Wicked, which hits theaters in November this year. The film is highly anticipated since it’s an adaptation of the popular Broadway musical.

When asked about the stunts, the artist had nothing but praise for her co-star Cynthia Erivo:

There was lots of bubble singing, which was very high up, and I wasn’t harnessed — I was just kind of there. I had a lot of stunty singing things, but nothing compares to Cynthia Erivo. This is my favorite thing in the entire world. Watching Cynthia in her harness with a broom, a hat, wig, corset, dress — the whole thing — flipping upside down, flying around the set, singing ‘Defying Gravity’ every take like it’s nothing … just the most phenomenal thing I’ve ever seen in my life.

We had to do some really insane and beautiful things for this film. It was just so much fun.

On the Met Gala red carpet this year, the singer had also mentioned that the experience had been life-changing, especially since it was a project she’d been a fan of since she was young.
