Naruto began its publication in the year 1999 and released its first-ever chapter on September 21, 1999, beginning its decade-long journey which eventually ended on November 10, 2014. The story revolves around Naruto Uzumaki who was labeled as a threat to the Konoha village and abandoned by everyone but that did not stop him from achieving his dream of becoming a Hokage.

One noticeable part about the series that distinguished it from the other series was how they showed their feet and fans always wondered why are they like this.

According to his original design, Naruto was supposed to wear ninja boots but during finalizing the character’s design he was not in much favour of it and decided to try something different. Kishimoto likes to draw toes as that was the main reason for the characters in the series to wear slippers rather than proper shoes or footwear that cover their feet.

He wanted to take a different approach to the series and wanted Naruto to be a cool and amazing character therefore making his colour pallet unique and funky instead of going with the usual black or bland colours.

Similarities between Masashi Kishimoto and Quentin Tarantino

Kishimoto while working alongside his illustrator decided to not go with the usual character pattern because he wanted to draw feet. While some consider this a fetish some view this as a challenge he wanted to undertake and try something different from usual stories. Even though Quentin Tarantino has won an Oscar and has done several blockbuster films throughout his career. Most people know him for his foot fetish rather than for being a good director.

The reason is that most of his work has zoom and focused shots of women’s feet and according to reports he paid women 10,000 dollars to lick her feet.

In an interview with GQ Quentin Tarantino said:

“I don’t take it seriously,” adding that it’s “just good direction”.

“There’s a lot of feet in a lot of good directors’ movies. Before me, the person foot fetishism was defined by was Luis Buñuel, another film director. And Hitchcock was accused of it and Sofia Coppola has been accused of it.”
