Kabuto May Have Been a Spy for Jiraiya in Naruto

Jiraiya and Orochimaru were both attached to the hip. In a manner, they were two friends who understood each other no matter how different their morals may have been. Being in the Sannin alongside Tsunade, the three of them grew up together as tight-knit as a family. After Orochimaru joins the Akatsuki, it is not as if Jiraiya just forgets about him. He, much like a close friend would, is in search of his lost partner.

Kabuto, who stands next to Orochimaru was loyal to him in every way possible. However, he was no one to shy away from a good trade. When it came to giving away information in exchange for something he valued, Kabuto did not give a second thought to it. Despite being a loyal follower, if not the right-hand man for Orochimaru, he often gave away information about him. His tendency to follow the man who seeks immortality, while giving away information about him to his enemies at the same time, could very well make him a spy for Jiraiya.

Jiraiya Kept Tabs on Orochimaru

Jiraiya, on his expedition to find Orochimaru, may have been using this tendency of Kabuto’s to keep tabs on Orochimaru. He would often trail the Naruto villain and in a manner, could have used Kabuto as a spy. He knew an awful lot about Orochimaru and Kabuto and then became not only a loyal follower of his but also a tool for his enemies to make sure he was up to no good.

This did not necessarily make him a good man though. He played a significant role in the Fourth Great Shinobi War. Not only did he steal Orochimaru’s research, but he also resurrected dead ninjas that wreaked havoc during the war. His loyalty was lesser towards Orochimaru than to what gave him the thrill to keep going.
