PlayStation Studios has been renowned for having a strong pantheon of first-party exclusive titles and the gaming community is waiting for the next big thing. Perhaps the lack of projects from the studio is a sign that it is running out of fresh ideas or has one under wraps.

Sony Interactive Entertainment had an interesting strategy on how to remain on top in the gaming industry and is serving them well to this day. The company invests on talent and what Naughty Dog was able to do during the PlayStation 4 era is a testament to the studio’s skill and was way ahead of their time.

The gaming community knew to expect a great single-player experience from the studio after successfully releasing back-to-back projects like The Lost Legacy, and The Last of Us Part 2 on the PlayStation 4, however, most of the games released by the developers have been remasters and remakes and no original title just yet which made fans worried of the state of the studio.

Game development can be time-consuming and it is not as simple as making a live-action feature. The developers immediately worked on The Last of Us sequel after shipping the original game but not immediately since there are other projects that require the attention of director Neil Druckmann.

The gaming community has nothing but praise for the developers and appreciated the team’s attention to detail by recreating a certain section of Uncharted 3 in The Last of Us which is a cool easter egg for hardcore fans to find. The developers opted to remaster and remake more recent titles for the PlayStation 5 and could use these games to hold off the gaming community until the team is ready to share what they are actively working on.

The developers pride themselves on making the best looking game possible and that is a tall order. The Uncharted games have always been about exploration and over-the-top action which can be somewhat unrealistic but believable enough for entertainment and that can take a toll on personnel.

The team got even more competent with their writing skills as they humanized the characters in The Last of Us. Both franchises carried the previous generation and the team could be working on something that could top all of their past achievements.

The most recent release out of the studio is a remaster to a game that did not need it. This kind of creative decision is what make fans uneasy and the team made some improvements to the already impressive features like the gore mechanics.
