Fans of the franchise will be delighted to hear that this title is the latest one to get a modern day upgrade. Now it should be mentioned that the Need for Speed: Most Wanted remake is the 2005 title, not the 2012 version which shares the same name. And it was confirmed (accidentally on purpose?) that the game was ahead of schedule with a release date of 2024.

Although Need for Speed: Most Wanted  was released way back in 2005, it was already the ninth instalment of the franchise and it was both a commercial success and a ratings success with most reviewers praising it’s ‘outstanding sound effects’ and ‘sharp graphics. Indeed most reviewers gave the title at least 8/10.

For those who haven’t played any of the Need for Speed games, here’s a quick rundown of what to expect. The game is an open-world racing game where players take part in illegal racing challenges across the fictional city of Rockport many of which see you being pursued by local law enforcement. Career mode allows players to upgrade their vehicles through various performance enhancements and visuals, to suit all styles.

Fans of the franchise won’t have long to wait for the Need For Speed: Most Wanted remake

Now when looking on the EA website, there is certainly no mention of games announced for next year. Certainly the last game they are set to announce is Immortals of Aveum, which is due to release next month on 22nd August. We would expect that they have something up their sleeve and a new title or indeed titles, are due to revealed shortly.

On a post on Reddit, Simone Bailly who played Officer Turf in Need for Speed: Most Wanted recently posted on Twitter the following, which was quickly removed;

Although this information looks to have come from a reliable source, we would advise that nothing is as yet confirmed but if it is, then we would be expecting an official announcement in the next few months.

Now while some fans are excited by a Need for Speed: Most Wanted  remake, it sees that some are left scratching their heads and wondering why Electronic Arts haven’t looked at remaking Need for Speed: Underground which debuted in 2003. Given that it’s due to celebrate a 20th anniversary, it would make sense that this would get a modern day makeover as well, surely?
