Helldivers 2 provides players with an option to melee enemies but it is not very effective against strong enemies so players rarely ever try to get a melee kill. A Helldivers 2 fan has come up with a concept of melee finishers that take inspiration from the Medal of Honor and Assassin’s Creed video game series.
This cool concept was well-received by the fans and Arrowhead can certainly take notes from it. This is definitely something that should be in the game although it would only be effective against weaker enemies. These melee finishers are only showcased against Automaton units but it is certainly a good place to start.
Helldivers 2 fan showcases melee finishes for the game
A viral video showcasing melee finishes has currently left the Helldivers 2 fandom wild. Created by EPG-6 on YouTube, this video showcases 8 different melee finishes against Automatons.
The community has pointed out that these finishers look like they’re inspired by the Medal of Honor and Assassin’s Creed franchises. It’s quite unusual why melee finishers are missing from Helldivers 2, given how every shooting game features it nowadays. The community shared its opinions on the concept:

The creator of these finishers has hinted that they will work melee finishers for the Terminid faction as well. As much as players like this, it would be impractical to use this on high-difficulty levels as players will be rushed by hordes of enemies by the time they end their finishing move. In such cases, players focus more on heavy units rather than weak units.
Fans should prepare themselves for new Automaton and Terminid units
Helldivers are currently fighting hard on Meridia to inject Dark Fluid into the planet’s core to destroy it completely but a new strategic update has revealed that it is causing Terminid outbreaks. Fans are concerned that this could be a hint that a very popular Terminid unit may be finally coming to Helldivers 2: Hive Lords. These massive sandworms are very difficult to deal with our fearless soldiers are not ready to give up.
The focus is completely on Terminids right now but that doesn’t mean the Automaton threat is gone. Some players recently discovered a mysterious non-functional Automaton unit which looked a little different from the existing Automaton units. Fans believe that this is Arrowhead’s way of hinting that some new Automaton units are also on their way.
