Strike First Strike Hard: Netflix’s Cobra Kai Season 3 – All You Need to Know

Featured Video

Hey 80’s Kids, it is time for a blast from the past. Back in those days, a lot of gangster and criminal drama productions used to steal the spotlight. The Karate Kid was such a welcome venture. It was light-hearted. It had humor. And most of all, there was no death and darkness in the movie. It was a simple tale of a kid learning the values of honor and glory from a man of a distant land and culture. The Karate Kid was a cult classic for a reason. And Cobra Kai, the series features Johnny Lawrence, the primary antagonist of the original movie as the lead. Lawrence must now reopen the defunct Cobra Kai dojo all the while entering into a rivalry with his old nemesis – Daniel LaRusso.

Season 3 Will Take Lawrence’s Rivalry with LaRusso to the ‘Next Level’

Season 1 helped establish the premise of Johnny Lawrence’s downfall and his eventual rise to power. Season Two explored his rivalry with LaRusso, who is now more successful than Lawrence could ever be. The third season, which was originally supposed to air in the Fall of 2020, was pushed to 2021 due to the Coronavirus Pandemic. Production on the third season is currently underway and from the looks of the stills we have received from the leaks, it is set to be an absolute blast. Expect a lot of knuckles cracking and a lot of bones crackling. Season 3, according to William Zabka (who plays Johnny Lawrence in the series), will take the fight to the next level.

Mister Miyagi Returns

Daniel LaRusso will take you back down to history lane. The show will now be a perfect balance between LaRusso and Lawrence. It will show both of their stories on equal footing. The most exciting news regarding the upcoming season is that Daniel is going back to the ancestral roots of his martial art prowess. A mysterious figure holding a Sai and clad in black was teased in last season. It is evident that the show was hinting towards Mister Miyagi. The actor who will play Mister Miyagi is said to be Yuji Okumoto. The actor was last seen playing the role of the evil Chozen in Karate Kid: Part II. Theories from many Karate Kid fans state that Chozen is actually Mister Miyagi’s son. There might be more to his story than what meets the eye.

Considering the time jump, bringing Mister Miyagi back does not make sense. He would have to be around one hundred years old. Pat Morita, the actor who portrayed the role in the movies, is no more. This would imply the figure clad in black will be played by another actor who most likely has a deeper connection to Mister Miyagi in some form. Now whether it is by blood or by any other means, we will get to know soon.

Potential Emmy Winner

With big names like Ralph Macchio, Will Smith, James Lassifer, and Bob Wilson as part of the head of production panels, Cobra Kai has the honor of working with the best and brightest in the industry. Sony Pictures Television has received numerous accolades for its first and second season. And so has Overbrook Entertainment which was the Production Company for its second season. The Season one of the show was nominated for the Imagen Award (Best Young Actor – TV), Teen Choice Awards, and the Rotten Tomatoes – Golden Tomato in Drama Category Award. It even won the Prime Time Creative Arts Emmy Award for its First Season. Season 2 was also nominated for the Clio Awards and the Shorty Awards along with Teen Choice Awards and the Prime-time Emmy Awards.

Season 3 might be gearing up to enter the international arena. After being nominated for so many awards, many claim that the Studio and Network is pooling in whatever resources necessary to make it a show-stopper for award season. The show, due to its highly acclaimed plot, cast, action choreography and screenplay, has a very good potential on winning the prestigious Prime-time Emmy again in 2021.

Elizabeth Shue May Return as Ali Mills

Ali Mills kind of lost her touch with the entire Karate Kid franchise after the events of the first movie. Elizabeth Shue faded away into the pits of obscurity. There were rumors that Shue will return as Ali in the second season of the show. But that was later revealed to be false. If Shue’s Ali Mills was being considered for the Season 2 of the show, then the reason she was dropped was probably due to budgetary and scheduling concerns. Season 3 has the mighty Netflix behind it. With deep pockets, Ali Mills will probably be making a return. Besides, Macchio has claimed that Season 3 will dive deeper into character origins. So bringing in Ali will only sweeten the deal.

Elizabeth Shue is currently prepping up for the release of the Boys Season 3, where she plays Madelyn Stillwell.
