Chris Rock’s recent Netflix special has surrounded itself with a lot of buzz, considering that the comedian finally broke his silence regarding Will Smith’s slapping incident at the 2022’s Oscars. Although it has garnered some controversies, it appears that the show was a substantial deal for the actor, as it was part of an agreement that Chris Rock made with Netflix back in 2016.

Even though Will Smith publicly apologized to the Grown Ups actor before, Rock didn’t hold back while calling out Smith on his show, and it seems that it turned out pretty profitable for the comedian.

Chris Rock reportedly earned $40 Million for his Netflix Specials

According to the report, the comedian was reportedly allotted a whopping amount of $40 million for two Netflix specials, meaning he was paid $20 million per show. The first Comedy special Chris Rock: Tamborine was released back in 2018 and the second part of the deal was released in the form of 2023’s Chris Rock: Selective Outrage. Netflix’s Chief Content Officer, Ted Sarandos went on to commend the comedian by stating,

“Chris is a beloved actor and director, and his remarkable stand-up makes him comic royalty. There is no one like him.”

It appears that Netflix is quite satisfied with the deal, considering the reception of the comedian’s second Netflix Special in which the actor blasted Will Smith over last year’s Slapping incident.

Chris Rock didn’t hold back while roasting Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith

After delivering a great show, Rock finally broke his silence regarding the Slapping incident at the 2022’s Oscars during the last ten minutes. The Grown Ups actor didn’t hold back as he went all guns blazing and blasted Will Smith through his jokes. The comedian also pointed out Smith’s failed marriage with Jada Pinkett Smith, as he went on to joke about the couple’s entanglement issues. He said,

“You all know what happened to me, getting smacked by Suge Smith. Everybody knows! Everybody fuc*ing knows! Yes, it happened. I got smacked. A year ago, I got slapped at the fuc*ing Oscars by this motherfuc*er and people are like, ‘Did it hurt?’ It still hurts! I got ‘Summertime’ ringing in my ear! But I’m not a victim. You will never see me on Oprah or Gayle, crying.”

Although Will Smith has previously apologized to Chris Rock for his action, the Suicide Squad actor still hasn’t responded to Rock’s new Netflix Special.
