Inspired by one of the popular video games The Last Of Us, a fiction series was developed by HBO. The series became quite famous among fans for its storyline, cinematography, and artistic approach to a video game adaptation. To keep things realistic in the show, the makers hired the best voice artists. The voice recordings making rounds on the internet sound more disturbing than the actual series.

Well, the recordings of Clicker needed much hard work and research to bring a realistic experience for the audience. The sounds which these SFX artists create of Clicker are used for the clicks character. This kind of sound helps them to seek humans and infect them.

How Did The Last Of Us Team Create The Disturbing Sounds?

As said above, the series is a video game adaptation and to give it a real touch the original sound artist of the video game were recruited. They developed sounds inspired by the “neurological disorders and conditions”. It’s known that some clickers required the mix of two voices of SFX artists named Misty Lee and Philip Kovats. In a recent conversation, Sam Hoeksema who plays the role of Clicker shared a few words on the making of the sounds.

“I looked at different kinds of neurological disorders and conditions that affect the cerebellum, which affects our balance and coordination skills. I looked at different relationships between animals and parasites that have these sorts of parasitic relationships,” he said. “It should feel more animalistic and less human.” Hoeksema added, “My hope is that you can almost see the human still there, but it should feel almost like an uncanny valley.”

The HBO web series was successful to win the hearts of fans through its adaptation. It has seen a boost in viewership every single week. When it premiered it garnered over 4.7M US viewers.
