Cyberpunk 2077 Update Contains Edgerunners Spoilers
Fair warning to those who have not yet seen the show, this new Cyberpunk 2077 update contains spoilers for the events of the show, which is set one year before the game takes place. If you wish to remain unspoiled, this is your last warning before diving into the new content added to the game.

In this new Cyberpunk 2077 update, spotted by Twitter user SynthPotato, players can find a holographic tribute to David Martinez, one of the lead characters from the anime series, who was murdered by Adam Smasher at the end of the series. The hologram features a touching description that ties in beautifully to the end of the series.
“You didn’t take me to the moon, but you were there with me,” reads the description, a heartbreaking reference to the show’s final moments, which saw Lucy fulfill her dream of going to the moon, albeit without her lover, David, and now dreaming of him being there with her.
It is a wonderful tribute to the series, to which the game arguably owes a lot of its recent popularity. Prior to the show’s release, public reception toward the game had still not yet recovered following its disastrous launch. Once the show dropped, however, and players started to return to an updated experience, that slowly began to change. Now, Phantom Liberty is arguably one of the most anticipated game releases of the year.
While this new Cyberpunk 2077 update is live now, the Phantom Liberty expansion will be released in four days, on September 26, 2023 for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC. The expansion will not be available for last-gen consoles, dropping support for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
