But sadly Nolan‘s years of relationship with the studio ended with David Zaslav’s decision to release the entire 2021 film slate on HBO Max without prior consultation with the filmmaker. But it looks like the studio has now realized its loss and is not only trying to bring back the Dunkirk director but also is in consideration to bring a new Dark Knight trilogy.

Christopher Nolan’s Strained Relationship With Warner Bros.

Christopher Nolan, regarded as one of Warner Bros.’ most successful directors, expressed his dissatisfaction and disappointment with the studio’s decision to release the films simultaneously on HBO Max and in theaters. Following this new shocking decision, the acclaimed director took his next project, Oppenheimer, to Universal Studios, indicating the rift between him and WB. Warner Bros. executives, Michael De Luca, indicate a desire to mend fences with the Memento director and rebuild the studio’s relationship with the visionary filmmaker.

In an intriguing turn of events, sources reveal that the Inception filmmaker received a substantial 7-figure royalty check from Warner Bros. within the past eight months. The payment is said to be linked to his 2020 film Tenet, which the studio released. While no connections were related to the bonus, insiders speculate that Warner Bros. intended it as a gesture of goodwill to repair the strained relationship with Nolan.
