If players have spent a good amount of time in Starfield, they have come across Starborn. Players encounter Starborn during the main story after they complete the All That Money Can Buy quest. A ship called Helix then approaches them and warns them to stop their search for artifacts.
Before proceeding further, Starborn is the main competition of the Constellation as players search for artifacts scattered across the cosmos. They have the best ships, weapons, and outfits that the game has to offer and gamers can collect them after defeating them.
However, despite being so powerful and having a trove of items, they only drop one dose of Quantum Essence.
This is very dissatisfying for players who come so far and defeat them, getting underwhelmed with the loot offered. A modder has now created a mod for Starborn in Starfield that can make this experience pretty exciting.
Starfield Mod Makes Defeating Starborn Worthwhile
The new mod called “Starborn’s Bounty” was created by modder, Netherworks, that allows Starborn enemies to have several distinct effects when players beat them and drop better loot.
Defeating the Starborn can also increase players’ power and power ranks, allowing players to loot Starborn or yield bonus quantum essence. Modder Netherworks stated:
I initially created this mod to give you an alternative means to have to sink into NG+ runs to raise or add new powers but I felt why not give it random outcomes to make it more interesting.
I felt at the same time, why do the Starborn just disintegrate and drop… Nothing? Except a quantum essence which, to me, is like receiving a food item (or Charlie Brown getting a rock as a gift).
So on death, there’s a chance some leveled list items are added to their inventory.
When the players have the “Starborn’s Bounty” mod installed in Starfield, whenever they defeat a Starborn, one of 3 things can happen giving players a chance to get better loot. The first thing that can happen is that the mod lets Starborn die without them disintegrating and has a 60% chance of occurring.
Players can loot them as they loot a normal enemy and could grab rare, epic, or legendary weapons, ammo, money, and sometimes a med kit or random scientific items.

The other two of the three random rewards are related to Starborn powers, one gives players power or just upgrades power the players already had and has a 30% chance of occurring.
The other grants 2 to 4 bonus Quantum essences, more than the base game which is only 1 essence, but this only has a ten percent chance of occurring.
Netherworks also explained that Starfield players have nothing to lose with the mod as even if they do not get the aforementioned rewards, they will still get one quantum essence per kill and the mod only enhances their chances of getting more and better loot.
They also mentioned how the game tracks the number of universes players visit, it does not track their power rank.
Therefore, when players use the mod they can either get a power or rank up the ones they already have. If the players already have a ranked up power, they might not get any upgrades and also there is no way for players to check that. There is also no chance that Starborn will drop their armor.

Netherworks also created different variations of the mod, increasing the chances of different outcomes that players would like.
These include Standard, Standard Xtra, Bountiful, Bountiful Extra, Lavish, Always Power, and Always Loot. Players who would like to download the mod can install it in their Starfield folder. They can either use the main Starfield folder or the My Games folder.
