There are also some issues in the game that players have complained about, they seem to be having fun. However, it seems like they may have another problem on their hands and this time it is related to drop rates in the game.

Nexon’s title opened to mostly positive reviews from the players and the player count on Steam shows that, peaking at 255,289 players at the time of writing. But players have also complained of the issues in the game, including technical issues and monetization practices.

Players are now complaining about drop rates and have said that they have spent hours in the game but haven’t got what they actually need. One player has now shared that Nexon reportedly has a RNG patent that may be affecting this drop rates in The First Descendant and many may not even be aware.

They shared a Reddit thread that mentions the player based RNG patent by Nexon for Maplestory. This allegedly includes decreases drop rates if there is a lot of user activity, increased drops for players with low activity, changing drop rates as per location, number of friends, current items, and more.

Several players had no idea about this, and many wondered how the company managed to patent RNG. It is not known for certain if The First Descendant uses RNG, but many players have said this is not right if it does, with one player adding, “That’s evil and serves a spot in hell!!!”

Another player said that Nexon has done this in the past but hope that it is not doing this to this game as they like it.

Earlier this year, a report stated that Nexon was fined nearly $9 million by Korea’s Fair Trade Commission for changing the probability of the premium loot boxes in its games, Maplestory and Bubble Fighter. This was between 2010 and 2021 but players were not made aware of these changes.
