When Pokemon Go first launched in 2016, gamers around the globe were fascinated by its unique gameplay that allowed them to catch their favorite pocket monsters right on their phones! It was truly a revolutionary game that contributed to mobile gaming’s growth.
Even though it’s an amazing game, it doesn’t come without its issues. One of the biggest complaints among players is centered around the title’s leveling system, which needs a proper rework; otherwise, the future isn’t looking too bright for Niantic.
Niantic Must Rework Pokemon Go Leveling System and Change Requirements
A major feature that sets Pokemon Go apart from other monster-catching games is the game’s Trainer Level system. This outright dictates how strong a Pokemon can be, so gamers who want to compete in top leagues must focus on leveling their Trainer.
While the first 40 Trainer Levels are quite straightforward to jump through, starting from Trainer Level 41, players must complete various tasks to move on to the next level. However, one of the biggest roadblocks comes at Trainer Level 48, where one of the tasks requires players to do 50 Pokemon Go lucky trades.
So how does one actually get past level 48 when you don’t have any local friends to trade with….

While lucky trades are an incredible way to get your hands on lucky Shundos and Hundos, they’ve always been a source of frustration among gamers. The core issue with the game’s trading system, which creeps into lucky trades as well, is the fact that they can only be done in person.
This means that if you’re someone who doesn’t have other Pokemon Go players around you, there’s no way to get to complete this lucky trades task. You’ll be stuck at Pokemon Go Level 48 if you try to do this task legitimately unless you give in to purchasing another phone.

In the last couple of years, Niantic has been actively trying to promote the growth of in-person communities centered around Pokemon Go through such tasks and events. However, if players are compelled to purchase another phone or try some other shady methods to complete these tasks, there’s clearly something wrong with the system.
It’s time for Niantic to acknowledge their mistakes and revamp the game’s Trainer Level system. Not everyone has players around them to do such tedious in-game tasks just to level up. Clearly, the developers must axe such functions for a particular portion of the player base or allow us to make trades remotely.
Niantic Should Improve the Trading System in Pokemon Go
Although we’ve witnessed Niantic introducing tons of new features and overhauls to the hit game over the years, the way trading functions in Pokemon Go has mostly stayed the same since its debut in 2016.
Players still need to befriend their trading partners and regularly send them Pokemon Go gifts to build friendship levels, reduce trading costs, and get a chance at lucky trades.
The core issue is that trainers are always required to meet up with one another to do such trades, which isn’t exactly convenient. However, there’s one simple fix to this problem and that’s global trading events.
Just like community days or other special events, Niantic could bring us recurring global trading day events that would allow trainers to fill out their collections and help others do the same. Such a feature would perfectly tie into the title’s community focus and improve accessibility without making it a nightmare to catch ’em all!
