Moon Knight is one of the most renowned TV shows under the banner of Marvel Studios. Considering the current state of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the Oscar Isaac starrer remains one of the few good things about the franchise.

Keeping that in mind, a second season for the series is much-anticipated and fans are already publishing theories about the content for the aforementioned addition to the show. Most theories are about none other than the titular character.

Moon Knight Season 2 Could Explore This Wild Jake Lockley Theory

One of the most depressing plot points in the inaugural season of the series was the tragic death of Marc Spector’s death. There have been many theories about her death, but not many have even come close to u/HansenTheMan’s theory on Reddit.

My theory is that Jake got permission from Khonshu to do a more personal kill and take revenge on Marc’s mom because of all that she did to him. Khonshu allowed it since Khonshu’s all about justice, vengeance, and punishing those who have done wrong; and Marc’s mom definitely had done wrong, seeing as how she was a child abuser. So Jake traveled back home and murdered his mother, and this also could be what made him so loyal to Khonshu.

Marc Spector’s mom is known for her cruel behavior towards her son during his childhood. Considering the split personalities of the leader character, the theory could turn out to be true.

After all, Jake Lockley was undoubtedly viewed as one of the most unhinged personalities of Marc Spector’s split personalities in the series. Keeping that in mind, Lockley could have very well pulled off the task of killing Spector’s mother.

Unfortunately, it still remains a theory as of now, since Spector’s mother’s death took place off the screen, and there is no confirmation about it being true.

Is Moon Knight Renewed For Season 2?

As we mentioned earlier, Moon Knight season 2 is yet to receive a green light at the MCU. However, considering the immense popularity of the series, it’s only a matter of time before Oscar Isaac returns to play the iconic character.

The season 2 of the series could explore how Wendy Spector was potentially killed by none other than Jake Lockley. If the TV show indeed returns, it will most likely feature six episodes, similar to the inaugural season of the series.

As far as the show’s release date is concerned, fans shouldn’t expect it to hit the shelves before late 2024 or early 2025. Until then, the audience can always rewatch the first season of Moon Knight.
