Samuel L. Jackson claims he was unaware of the time when he was being scanned for his film Star Wars and other Marvel projects. As many Marvel films use AI to produce great moments on the big screen for viewers, Jackson has stated unequivocally that he disagrees with such things. While talking about AI and technology rise during an interview, the 74-year-old actor explained why he doesn’t approve of AI. The Coming To America actor said,

“People just started worrying about that? I asked about that a long time ago. The first time I got scanned for George Lucas, I was like, ‘What’s this for? George and I are good friends, so we kind of had a laugh about it because I thought he was doing it because he had all those old guys in Episode 1 and, if something happened to them, he still wanted to put them in the movie.”

Jackson believes that the rise of AI in Hollywood will cause numerous issues for many actors. He advises other actors to be cautious and to carefully read their contracts. While talking about his contracts for the movie, the Spiral actor said,

“Future actors should do what I always do when I get a contract, and it has the words ‘in perpetuity’ and ‘known and unknown’ on it. I cross that s**t out. It’s my way of saying, ‘No, I do not approve of this.'”

Not just Jackson, Tom Hanks has also raised his concerns over the excessive use of technology in Hollywood. Hanks explained during a podcast what bothers him about AI.

Just like the Deep Blue Sea actor doesn’t approve of AI, in a similar way he is not a big fan of method acting either. Jackson has pulled off many emotional scenes in movies without implementing method acting. The Shaft actor says the process of filming the emotional scenes should involve fun as well. But, according to Jackson, actors who do method acting don’t enjoy the process of performing the scene. The Pulp Fiction actor said,

It’s a job of playing make-believe. You do it effectively and you do it in a way that’s not harmful to you because it’s a safe space. You’re supposed to be able to safely come into this space, work and give emotionally, and not be harmed by it.”
