As if losing The Witcher and Superman wasn’t enough, it appears James Bond too might be off the cards for the fan-favorite Henry Cavill. For a long while, Cavill was seen as the perfect fit to play Bond, but with each passing report, the chances of it happening seems unlikely.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who is set to appear as the titular character in Sony’s Kraven the Hunter, has been long rumored as the frontrunner to take the 007 role moving forward. Although there isn’t any substantial weight to prove the legitimacy of these claims, the actor’s recent interview has reignited this possibility among fans.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson Reignites James Bond Speculations

While discussing his upcoming movie Kraven the Hunter, which has been delayed to next year, in a lengthy interview with Esquire, the Bullet Train Star refused to comment on the current James Bond situation. Although his frustration with tackling the James Bond rumors in every interview was quite palpable, as he is currently focused on Kraven, Aaron Taylor-Johnson didn’t completely debunk the claims. The actor explained,

“As I’ve already told you, I have to go by the beat of my own drum. It’s my own path, what feels intuitive to me. I’ve never made a decision based on other people’s perspectives, or their judgments, or their expectations….You’ve got to stay on track with what’s present in front of you. Kraven is what’s in front of me.”

The interviewer later went on to state Taylor-Johnson could’ve easily shut down the speculations by stating, “‘No, mate, I’m not fucking playing James Bond,’”, but he never does. Although Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s hesitancy towards tackling the James Bond rumors might be just his frustration, it’s hard to say that the actor is off the cards for the next 007, as he perfectly fits the criteria for the job.

James Norton Brushed off James Bond Rumors

But unlike the Marvel Star, Norton has kept fans in the loop. However, according to the Happy Valley actor, things aren’t looking too bright for him, as Norton clarified that he hasn’t been in the Bond conversations, debunking previous rumors.

With the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strike impacting the industry at exponential levels, it doesn’t seem any substantial James Bond reports will make headlines anytime soon. But for now, it’s safe to assume Aaron Taylor-Johnson is the best possible candidate for the role, as fans’ hope to witness Henry Cavill in the iconic role diminishes once again.
