As far as celebrity friendships go, there are many names that come to mind but none stand out the way Vin Diesel and Paul Walker do. From Matt Damon and Ben Affleck to Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, many different celebrities find friendship in another big-name star. Some do so even before they see fame. Walker and Diesel had a friendship so wholesome that the latter also walked the former’s daughter down the aisle.
Despite Walker’s passing, he is still one of the most loved actors. Even now, Diesel praises him and appreciates the time they had together, wanting to mention him whenever the opportunity arises. So it was safe to say that they had some secrets amongst themselves too. Ones that they never told the world.
Paul Walker and Vin Diesel’s Tiny Little Secret
Paul Walker and Vin Diesel‘s friendship goes a long way. So much so that they had a secret they never told anyone for the longest time. This secret was about a game. Diesel would often find his Fast and Furious co-star sitting at his house as the two of them went ahead and played World of Warcraft. The same game that almost cost Henry Cavill the role of Superman. Speaking with Men’s Health, Diesel admitted that no one knew that they used to play so much.
“No one in the world knew that they were playing Dom and Brian.”
They would not just play at his house but also on the set of the film. They loved it and would team up against strangers, enjoying the luxury of a captivating PVP came as such. They would play against strangers without ever revealing their identities. So there could be a chance one played against Vin Diesel and Paul Walker without ever being aware of that fact at all.
The Biggest Compliment for Paul Walker
Vin Diesel revealed in an interview with Men’s Health that while some actors may not like to be called by the roles they play, Paul Walker absolutely loved it. He was extremely fond of people calling him Brian, finding it to be the biggest compliment.
“One of the guys called him Brian. And when we left, and we were in the car, he said, ‘That’s my favorite thing. It’s my favorite thing when people call me Brian.’ And it always stuck with me. Because he was so adamant about it. To him it was a beautiful compliment. I still think about it to this day, because it just says so much, that there was so much pride in this iconic character he created. It was his creation, his superhero, and that moment represented a simpler life, I guess.”
To the actor, it was his masterpiece that was coming to life. So it was only natural for him to be recognized for it as well. He was extremely proud and did not mind it when people called him by that name.
