Some of the characters from the superhero universe of the MCU have left an unforgettable mark on the hearts of fans worldwide, including Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man and Chris Evans’ Captain America. Since their last appearance in the 2019 film Avengers: Endgame, fans have been eagerly waiting for their return. However, those wishing for the return of the shield-wielding superhero may need to prepare for a rude awakening as the actor has recently shared why he might not return to the MCU anytime soon.
Chris Evans on His Return as Captain America
Popularly known for starring as the super soldier Captain America, Chris Evans has set the facts straight about his return to the MCU. Although he has not completely ruled out the possibility of returning to the franchise, he has suggested that it might not happen anytime soon.
“I’ll never say never, just because it was such a wonderful experience,” he said in an interview with GQ for its October issue. He stated that the role has been very “precious” to him, as “it’s something that [he is] very proud of.” The Snowpiercer actor further said,
“And I wouldn’t want the black eye if it felt like a cash grab or if it didn’t live up to expectations or if it just felt like it wasn’t connected to that original thing.
He has said that he wants the superhero’s return to be meaningful and respectful instead of something that feels forced or insincere. As of now, the Gifted actor has suggested that a Captain America comeback is “no time soon” as he wants to make sure that it’s done right and is up to the standards.
Chris Evans Wants to Focus on His Other Interests
Chris Evans has been working as an actor for over two decades. And has now expressed that he wants to focus on his other interests and hopes to “act a little bit less in my life.” He said that he is very pleased with where he is at the time and doesn’t want to “occupy too much space in an industry.”
Talking about his other interests, the 42-year-old actor said that he “could just make furniture for nobody and be happy.” Evans worked nonstop on three movies last year. However, he has not been on a movie set in 2023 and has said that it “has been lovely.” He also shared that he is not looking forward to “carve out some sort of leading man niche” for himself and would be happy to take on good supporting roles.
