Winnie the Pooh has been a childhood icon of many for years. Known for his kindness of heart and naiveness, the yellow bear from A. A. Milne and E.H. Shepard’s imagination has been a comfort character for countless children for decades. And so to have it reimagined as a horror and serial murderer character is an absolutely horrendous and baffling idea.
A fact that was acknowledged by the critical success of the movie Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey. However, that might have all changed seeing the impressive debut of its sequel, Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2.
Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 Might Have Nailed The Tale
To have one of the warmest, nicest, kindest, and loveable characters and turn it into a bloodthirsty monster is a recipe for disaster. A fact that the 2023 movie, Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey proved pretty well as far as critical reviews are concerned. Made against a budget of $100,000, it was released across several screens with many thinking the movie would be a grand success (via Variety).
However, while the movie was a grand success, garnering $5.2 million worldwide (via The Numbers), it was one of the worst movies when it came to critical reviews. Even a year later, the movie only has a rating of 3% with 62 reviews in total on Rotten Tomatoes, a terrible feat for a feature that was as big of a commercial success.
But after the failure of the first movie, Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 has broken its prequel records by debuting at 100% on Rotten Tomatoes (via X). While it currently has a critical rating of 88% and an audience rating of 84%, its debut at 100% has even left fans shocked who cannot believe that the movie is so good.
Fans Shocked At How Good Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 Is
Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 carries on the tale of its prequel, and features the otherwise loving and kind characters of Pooh, Piglet, Owl, and Tigger going on a murderous rampage to hunt Christopher Robin after he revealed their existence in the first movie.
Starring Scott Chambers in the lead, the movie’s surprisingly successful feat has even left fans and netizens shocked, who were until now aversive to the series after witnessing the terrible critical reviews of the first movie.
I can’t believe they just decided to make that much better of a film over the span of a year.

With plans to launch a Poohniverse among other IPs (see Variety), the fan and audience reactions on the internet can only mean one thing: fans are excited and elated to witness the birth of yet another horror franchise with an unlikely villain, Winnie the Pooh, at the center of it.
While Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey can be rented on Amazon Prime, its sequel is in cinemas now.
