While DC has struggled to keep its interconnected live-action universe afloat, leading to the regime change back in late 2022, one thing that they’ve gotten right constantly is Batman. From Christian Bale in the 2000s to Ben Affleck in the 2010s and now Robert Pattinson in recent years, Batman has proven to be DC’s biggest cash cow over and over, and for good reason.

Considering how layered of a protagonist Bruce Wayne is, seeing different auteurs bringing in their own vision to the character is always fun, and fans are reasonably excited to see what the DCU has stored. However, netizens have shared little interest in the idea of Hayden Christensen being the new caped crusader, who was recently asked about his verdict on playing Batman.

While Darth Vader and Batman are very different characters with very different ideologies, on paper, it’s not hard to see the similarities, as both are brooding and intimidating figures who appear in all black. And with the window open for DCU’s Batman, who is yet to be cast, Hayden Christensen shared that he loves Batman, stressing he’s a great character. The actor also commended Robert Pattinson‘s portrayal of the character when asked what if he was cast in The Batman instead.

Moreover, the Star Wars star stressed that he would’ve had an easier time playing Bruce Wayne compared to Batman, as he finds the Bruce Wayne persona easy to access personally.

He told GQ:

It’s the dichotomy of the character, I don’t know, you gotta have one and the other. Probably more Bruce Wayne would be the easier character for me to access personally

However, fans aren’t too keen to see him star as the caped crusader, especially after his stint in the prequels trilogy, while some stressed he simply isn’t a good pick for Batman.

It’s important to note that similar was the sentiment around every live-action Batman since Michael Keaton, and as the story goes, all of them ended up proving their doubters wrong.

Alan Ritchson Wants To Become DCU’s Bruce Wayne

While Hayden Christensen was sort of beating around the bush when asked about the idea of playing Batman, Alan Ritchson had no problem letting everyone know that he wanted to play Bruce Wayne. Following his ginormous physique and his performance in Amazon’s Reacher, the Fast X star has been one of the top names that fans have been campaigning for DCU’s Batman.

Ritchson has been pretty vocal about his want to play the dark brooding vigilante, as the actor loves every aspect of the character.

There, I said it, okay? I’ll shout it from the rooftops: ‘I wanna be Bruce Wayne!’ Here’s the thing about Batman. You know what his superpower is? Intelligence. Dude is the smartest superhero there is. He’s inventive, and he’s got all the gadgets, but he’s super smart. I want to be that guy. And, also, to have a cave with, like hypercars, sports cars, and awesome motorcycles

Considering James Gunn clarified the casting for DCU’s Batman won’t begin until the script is done, we can only wait to see who eventually bags the acclaimed role.
