During his conversation with O’Brien, Bon Jovi was asked about his work ethic and the various struggles he faces as a rockstar. In response, the It’s My Life singer stated:

“You’ve set the bar and now you have to beat that record every time you.”

O’Brien later pointed out how the singer had been at the top of his game for over forty years and still appeared to be in the best physical shape and at the peak of his prowess.

“I had an old adage nobody loved the fat Elvis you know. It’s like I don’t want to go out like that if I’m going to if I’m going to die it’s going to be you know out there doing it the right way.”

Bon Jovi made the above statement in reference to the later years of Elvis Presley’s career. Bon Jovi’s statement reflects his passion for music and dedication to the art form, which he seemed to imply was the primary driving force behind his work ethic. At the same time, it can also be seen as an indicator of the artist’s longevity and continued success despite being in his 60s.

During a separate interview, the singer also addressed his relationship with former band member Richie Sambora, who features in the upcoming docuseries, despite having quit Bon Jovi almost a decade ago. Jon Bon Jovi revealed that he had not been in contact with Sambora and the duo did not interact during the production of the docuseries.

“We’re not in contact because he’s not in the organization any longer. Doesn’t mean that there’s not love forever, but it’s 11 years ago that he just didn’t show up anymore.”

Bon Jovi made the above statement in an interview with Ultimate Classic Rock. Sambora, who was one of the guitarists and founding members of the band, abruptly quit in 2013. However, Sambora did reunite with the band for its Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony in 2018. In February 2023, Sambora expressed an interest in rejoining the band.

Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story will premiere on April 26, 2024, on Hulu.
