In a new rumor from industry scooper MyTimeToShineHello, it seems like Marvel fans’ wish will finally come true “sooner.” The caption read:

The movies did it better. They didn’t even touch on the split personality stuff in the game. Movie Venom is also so much fun I can’t wait to see him and Tom Holland’s Spidey fight (sooner than you think).”

No additional details were given, but it seems unlikely that this will happen in Venom 3 as production has been in progress before the strike. Holland also admitted he is still on the fence about signing another contract with Marvel Studios.

MCU Almost Featured More Of Tom Hardy’s Venom

In an interview with Spider-Man: No Way Home writer Chris McKenna, Tom Hardy’s Venom nearly had a bigger part in the third installment. The studio apparently scrapped this initial idea, perhaps, for a much more meaningful encounter with Tom Holland’s Spider-Man in the future.

Speaking with Empire (via Digital Spy), McKenna revealed all the scenes that could have featured Eddie Brock:

So Eddie Brock makes it to the MCU, but he never makes it out of a bar. But there were versions where he shows up earlier. We were going to try to have him show up at the Statue of Liberty [for the final fight], and we were even toying with having him stuck in the Lincoln Tunnel.”

The writer did not expound Hardy’s limited screen time, but fans know he appeared in a bar scene. The bartender told him all about the heroes and villains of this Earth and before he could leave for New York, he was pulled back to his own universe because of Doctor Strange’s spell.

A piece of the symbiote was left behind, something that fans expected Peter Parker would find. When asked about the much-anticipated Venom and Spidey clash, McKenna admitted:

I have no idea. That is above our pay grade. We are part of a bigger, larger universe that we are not the gods of, we’re just mortals in.”

Seems like it is going to be a tough scheme to draw how Hardy’s Venom and Holland’s Spider-Man would meet, but this momentous event will surely happen in the near future.

Venom 3 will arrive in theaters on July 12, 2024.
