This character is All Might. One of the recent chapters revealed the backstory of Toshinori Yagi also known as All Might. His backstory also explains his need to become the strongest hero and why he would be the perfect main character.
All Might describes his first recollections as almost too sensitive and light in My Hero Academia chapter 403 by Kohei Horikoshi. His past is also one of the most distinctive in the anime world, making him an ideal main character.

Toshinori Yagi, popularly known as All Might, is a former No. 1 Pro Hero and the world’s Symbol of Peace. He is a Foundational Hero Studies teacher at U.A. High School. All Might held the One For All Quirk for the eighth time. Since then, he has transferred the torch to Izuku Midoriya. Unbeknownst to the rest of the world, All Might was born Quirkless. In subsequent chapters, All Might attributes the moment he gained One For All to him simply looking back and perceiving something essential.
All Might refers to the time his life changed forever as purely coincidental, meaning that he wasn’t actively seeking change. All Might even remembered having the happiest childhood. These aspects make his story different from a stereotypical anime protagonist and perfect for a lead character of a series. This kind of backstory is mostly used by franchises like Marvel or DC.
All Might’s Backstory Makes Him Perfect For a Protagonist
The most recent part uses All Might’s past to question the origins of every hero in American comics, Japanese manga, and beyond. The bulk of protagonists come from tragic backgrounds or have such a strong yearning for something that they are driven to attain the impossible. However, the current episode demonstrates that this was not the case for All Might, as he recalls the time his life changed forever was purely an accident, and he was not looking for a change, which is unusual for any main character in the anime world. This, combined with the fact that All Might has never been concerned with concealing his identity to protect his loved ones, would make All Might a unique protagonist.
It is critical to recognize that My Hero Academia is influenced by American superhero comics, and making All Might the protagonist would have further positioned the anime as an homage to DC and Marvel. Although All Might as a main character would make it more of a Marvel or DC story, it would surely bring a unique approach to the anime world.
