It was 18 July 2008 when Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale released their magnum opus The Dark Knight. Starring an ensemble cast including Heath Ledger, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Aaron Eckhart, and, Gary Oldman, the film received rave reviews.
After the film’s release, The Dark Knight earned a total of $24.6 million on the Monday after its release. The amount was considered the highest ever earned by a Warner Bros. film. Well, that record was broken 15 years later with Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie’s 2023 film, Barbie. The film managed to earn $26 million on the Monday after its release, breaking the record held by Christian Bale’s The Dark Knight all those years ago. Well, this isn’t the only record that Barbie has managed to break.
Bale and Christopher Nolan’s 2012 film The Dark Knight Rises earned $1.085 billion at the global box office in that year. Well, Barbie managed to earn a total of $1.38 billion worldwide making it the highest grossing film of Warner Bros., a record previously held by The Dark Knight Rises.
Christian Bale Would Return To The Dark Knight Franchise in a Heartbeat!
With The Dark Knight Rises, the companionship of Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale for the superhero movie came an end. Although Bale did not understood the silliest thing about the Batsuit, the American Psycho actor told Screen Rant that he would return to the franchise but only if Christopher Nolan had a story to tell.
“We said, ‘Hey, look. Let’s make three films, if we’re lucky enough to get to do that. And then let’s walk away. Let’s not linger too long.’ In my mind, it would be something if Chris Nolan ever said to himself, ‘You know what, I’ve got another story to tell.’ And if he wished to tell that story with me, I’d be in.”
Starring alongside Tom Hardy, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and, Anne Hathaway in the film, Christian Bale heralded the end of an era with The Dark Knight Rises. The film received a rating of 8.4/10 on IMDB and 87% on Rotten Tomatoes and is one of the most popular Christopher Nolan movies ever made.
